Each has its merits, but there are still some problem s in respect of collation and explanation. In this article,we discuss those problem s from three angles: topsy2turviness of collation and explanation;m isreading due to unfam ilarity w ith the content;m isreading due to unfam ilarity w ith the language. W e suggest that, in order to improve the annotations” translations ofS anguozhi,we should pay much attention to the follow ing study: a. to try to get fam iliarw ith classics, especially those beforeW ei”Jin; b. to absorb all the fruits ofS an2 guozhistudies; c. to strengthen the studies of Sanguo culture and m iddle2ancient chinese.
